2026 Incidents

(Note: incidents given with a number in brackets are officially reportable, while the others relate to standbys, event cover and incidents outside the team area at which team members were present)

(21) 6th August
The team was asked to rescue a sheepdog fallen into a shake hole on a farm in Mallerstang. A rope system was used to lower a team member into the narrow entrance and the dog was safely extracted.

(20) 20th June
The team attended an unwell male walker in Smardale and extracted him by stretcher to the road to meet an ambulande

(19) 17th May
Members of the team assisted Patterdale MRT in the search for a missing man around Ullswater.

(18) 15th May
An injured gamekeeper who had slipped on difficult ground near the Belah Beck was located and carried by stretcher to the air ambulance.

(17) 14th May
The team extracted a woman who had fallen on steep ground in her own garden near Pendragon Castle. She was handed over to the ambulance at a nearby road.

(16) 11th May
Three members of the team helped Penrith MRT to search for a missing young man in the north of the county.

(15) 1st May
The team was called to two walkers lost in Swindale Woods towards the end of the day. The women were located at the riverside and brought back by foot to their vehicles.

(14) 1st May
After a man found he was unable to walk in farmland on North Stainmore, the team extracted him to the road and subsequently to his house, where he could be attended to by the ambulance service.

(13) 12th April
A runner in his 50s taking part in a fell race in the Howgills suffered a lower leg injury in Bowderdale. He was treated by the team and extracted to the road in a stretcher, where he was handed over to the ambulance. 14 team members were involved.

(12) 28th February
A runner required assistance with a minor leg injury during the High Cup Nick Fell Race, which the team was providing cover for.

(11) 27th February
A male walker reported being lost in poor visibility near The Calf in the Howgills. He was located through his phone and talked onto a path down, where he was met by team members. 12 team members responded over a 3 hour period.

(10) 18th February
The team was called to a woman with an ankle injury at a farm near the Fat Lamb, Ravenstonedale. The casualty was made comfortable and given pain relief while waiting for an ambulance.

(9) 28th January
The team was asked to assist Duddon MRT in the search for a missing person at Grizebeck. 5 members responded but were stood down before being deployed.

(8) 22nd January
11 KSMRT team members responded to a request from Kendal MRT to help with the evacuation of a deceased male from Holme Knott near Sedbergh.

(1-7) 9th-17th January
The team spent several days over a week long period on the search for a male missing in the Howgill Fells.
